I maybe in the wrong, this morning whilst on 16a, windows were already open down stairs on the bus.

I was sitting under a window, when a fellow passengers closed windows including the one under my head.

As soon as 'she' closed it, I reopened it and she was about to reclose again and didnt like it that I told it staying open as I wanted fresh air

The reason I could gather she wanted it closed was it was raining and rain coming in through the window and getting wet,

Is there any collination between the old bundy clock or short workings.

I know the 40 West Bromwich to Wednesbury has one or two short workings (stone cross) and (friar park) both sites has these clock's.

Are the drivers from North Birmingham Travel idiots has two of them keeping parking on pavements to drop passengers off in wheelchairs.

One earlier this afternoon tried pulling up on to the pavement in Wednesbury, I tried explaining he's not allowed to but the driver was adinment that he is allowed to as he needs a big areas to manoeuvre a wheelchair that could not be done from roadside.

Surely if the driver drives across a pavement surely it is classified as dangerous driving and the driver should lose their licence or have points on licence.

With Birmingham City Council bust does anyone think ULEZ will be expanded to bring in extra revenue into the councils coffers.

Such as

1) expanded from inner circle to the edge of the outer circle.

2) expanded south towards the airport to capture people going to the NEC

Is there any bus fare rises happen next month someone on Facebook posted the fares are going up on July 3rd from £2:40 (£2.00cap) to £2.70, surely higher fares will deter passengers and surely it wise to raise the fares.

I had a great think before posting about this topic.

The leasing of buses is a good idea.
(1) if god forbid NXWM went bus, debt recovery would have to happen.  As newer buses are leased this would not be accountable as stock to offset any possible debt.
(2) if leasing company was to go bust there's could be a possibility NX could by the buses that they leased on the cheap.

I think there are other reasons but the top two are key reasons why leasing is good.

Midland Metro / Original line mistakes
April 27, 2023, 07:24:38 PM
We're the mistakes in the making of the original line application.

I think mistakes where made and think the  powers to be could have used what we know as Jewellery line (Snow Hill to Stourbridge) as this had two new stops created plus a terminal at snow hill.   They could have used trains/trams like Tyne and Wear or T68's like Manchester Metro, then create what we know as line one From Snow Hill to Wolverhampton

@Tony @Simon Dunn  I caught the 40 at 16:23 diamond service from West Bromwich and the driver refused NX tickets, and the driver  did not like the fact passengers with NX tickets boarded and sat down and implied we fare dodged.

We tried telling the driver it's a partnership route and nx tickets are accepted but he wanted to passengers to sort with inspector.

I have a monthly NX pass as I have other buses that I catch which are run my nx.  My first and last bus I catch is the 40 and it's a partnership route.

Midland Metro / Extension opening
April 13, 2023, 07:51:34 AM
With the spring opening just around the corner will Midland Metro beat Edinburgh and Blackpool to open first or will see a double whammy opening.

Midland Metro and Edinburgh, Midland Metro and Blackpool or Edinburgh and Blackpool open on the same day or will it be a triple Whammy and all three open on the same day or bank holiday weekend Sunday 28th May.

So TfWM are looking at this service over the next six months while it sorts out it's long term future to see where the issue lies

My suggestion would be as follows
  • Re route the 40 around Charlemont Farm so it covers that part of the 45 route. Wednesbury - Stone Cross then via Charlemont Farm then normal line of route same in reverse.
  • If 4M is every 20 mins re route via Bescot and Yew Tree then normal line of route
Therefore both routes are covered to a satisfactory level of service.  But I know you can't please everyone.

I know in the 80's the West Mids trailed guided buses to improve reliability of services.  I know the trial focused on route 65.

Are the are any parts of the city where a guided buses could run with ease or would it be too costly to implement

As it been confirmed if NX or any other local operators are extended the £2 fare until end of June or are fares going back to £2.40

Now the strike is in full swing I haven't missed catching regular buses but it as highlighted how heavy we rely on them and when we have one operator dominating 93% of routes it's shows something is wrong as not every area is covered during strikes.

Hopefully somethings can change like an overall of routes so other operating companies can have a fair share of the routes

We know the metro is now split into various fare Zones 1-4 on line one and may be 3-5 when it goes to Merry Hill.

Do you think Street/the new mayor will push for buses to uniformed as one name and it's a joint operation between all operators and realign ticketing so there are multiple zones.

For example zone 1 is Birmingham city centre, zone 2 hockley, zone 3 could be Soho road while zone 4 could be the Hawthorns (which I believe was a boundary line), zone 5 carter's green ext.

Do bus companies offer work services any more.

I know in the past this would have been a thing but with the age of the motor car it seems more people drive.

I believe the only company that offer it is Amazon as I believe NX did a service to enable day and night shifts to get to work.

Is there a list of former works routes.

It's rumoured that we have may have blackout's if there is not enough energy to this winter.

How will this effect public transport.  For buses, trains and trams.

I tried to alight (disembark) the bus this evening on the 40 bus operated by Diamond West Midlands and the idiot driver parked a good two foot away from the kerb.

I asked the driver if he could park any closer to the path and the idiot of a driver said no as the was a van in front and behind and it was the only area he could park.

I tried explaining how our elderly,  passengers with pushchairs or wheelchairs supposed to board/alight safely.

Surely the Diamond driver is wrong as he a responsibility for passenger safety and I didn't feel safe to alight he needed to rectify the issue

With the Baton Relay happening during the last week of July.

25th Black country leg

Does anyone know about the West Bromwich leg of the relay and if the bus stop will be closed as I usually arrive in to West Bromwich about 4:41 or 4:51 as I have connections to make.

27th Birmingham leg 2

I know on the 27th it starts at the botanical gardens in Birmingham.   Does anyone know what Westbourne road closes on that day as it will impact me getting to work.

Waiting at five ways this afternoon  and 4965 pulls in and the front destination blind is faulty as it keeps alternating between 13a Blackheath and 13 Oldbury.
