Absolutely agree the pay rates don't reflect the responsibilities, the unsocial hours and dealing with the public. Good to see staff getting a well deserved pay rise.

I was talking about those almost forgotten pre COVID days! Seems things improved drastically when there were none of those pesky passengers to slow things down! Sadly its not easy to change things on a railway. Where you can regulate and tweak bus services to fill or minimise gaps its almost impossible to react to late notice change on the railway.

From bitter experiance of the London to Birmingham route yes they always always will without any communication with their passengers.

Sad news but you do wonder what will become of the other sites in Digbeth in the area opposite the Custard Factory between Digbeth and Bradford Street? It looks like this is just the start of a wholesale change to the area which is after all the hub of the industrial revolution and in Birmingham's place as factory to the world.

For this company to collapse in a large conurbation such as Coventry underlines how 'hand to mouth' bus operation has become outside of the big groups.

It's sad that yet another innovative operator willing to try new ideas has been lost along with all those good jobs as well.

Having worked for similar family owned businesses I know just how the DeCourcey family will be feeling about this.

Think it is going to be a long harsh winter for the bus and coach industry...best of luck to all concerned.

Need same frequency and one common terminal point to inter work. Reason of inter working is to use less buses over the combined routes!

Think that Broad Street used to get so clogged up that the decision was taken to truncate the route at Five Ways on the basis of "did the passenger traffic warrant the use of an additional PVR?" to service an already well served section of road. So it was a partially economic cost saving measure/common sense service reliability change. After all it is only a case of jumping from one bus onto another with minimal delay. The 1 is one of the oldest routes in Birmingham celebrating its centenary a couple of years ago. There have been minimal changes over the years apart from some fiddling around at the Acocks Green end and has always been a steady source of passenger revenue.
