Title: 25 BP (before Parry People mover)
Post by: Tony on September 06, 2012, 09:36:16 PM
When the Stourbridge shuttle was a proper train, not a super Leyland National, let alone the current PPM

These were proper trains, although they were a bit troublesome at times. Especially the two times that they had brake failure and ended up through the wall at Stourbridge Town Station.

Remind me Tony, what class number was the ones that look most like a Leyland National (bus)?

I'm thinking its the 155? Or 153?

Not a massive train fan. /Obviously.

The ones that look most like a Leyland National are the class 142 pacers

The ones you see around here are the class 153s
http://wmbusphotos.com/Trains/class153/153325.html
but these were all built as class 155 two cars and later split into 153 single cars. There are still a few twin class 155s in Yorkshire so both of the class numbers you quote above are correct

Not a massive train fan. /Obviously.

I still wish the branch line was operated by Super Sprinters. The PPMs are too jerky for my liking

They are having a lot of trouble with the PPM at the moment. It is breaking down regularly and the one other is being cannabalised for spares. heard on the radio at 6pm that the service had recommenced after yet another breakdown.

Yes, I arrived at Stourbridge Town at 3.30 today and there was no service, we were sent to the Junction by Taxi.

What was really annoying though is that there was no announcements made or shown on the screens. We only knew there was a problem when the taxi driver came onto the platform to tell us to go with him as there were no trains! This was despite there being someone sitting at the Ticket Counter, who didn't think that passengers might want to know this! Typical London Midland (lack of) Customer Service.

Think before long we will be welcoming back the 153s on the branch.
