Post by: Tony on December 30, 2012, 07:21:07 PM
I have now done my upgrade to the A Line page including all old photos I have managed to recover and full vehicle histories
http://wmbusphotos.com/A%20Line/fleetlist.html
Any updates, corrections, or photographs of missing vehicles gratefully received.

Note the former vehicles section only includes vehicles I have photos of

Other vehicles previously owned, which I don't have photos of

Marshall Dennis Dart SLF S 81 DOX which passed to Zak's

Plaxton Pointer 2 Dennis Darts SLF V 385 / 6 JWK which passed to Pete's Travel and V 509 NOF which passed to Zak's.

These were owned early 2000s probably sold by 2001/2.

Thanks, yes those 4 might get a mention in the future as I do have photos of them with subsequent operators, in general I only intend including vehicles I have photos of in the 'former sections' as it would be impossible to do a full list with most ops.

A&M has now also had the update treatment

So as it was stated in the Xplore Dundee thread, A-Line have acquired ex Dundee 7176. This has been acquired to use on school services. So looks like we might still see B10's in service.

@Michael Bevan - there was already an A-Line thread, we don't need two..... Please check before starting a new thread, Winston

Added to the fact that there are still B10's operating up and down the land so not just a west midlands novelty.

Have A Line got any normal passenger services left?

An 2004 (Unsure whether it was 04 or 54) Mercedes Plaxton Beaver has joined this firm with the last 3 letters of the registration plate being "TWN". Seen in Coventry today in dark blue fleet livery.

Do A-Line only run school contract services in the Coventry boundary (the A&M Group running the 735 after the departure of A-Line from that) these days. Have I got that right?

I highly doubt this will go ahead as planned if COVID-19 is still around.

This company used to have a garage in Mancetter, Atherstone right?

I remember catching their 777 service from Chelmsley Wood to Atherstone each Friday on my way to work. Bus fare 99p!

I used to see them driving behind a building opposite The Blue Boar Inn on Mancetter Road, Mancetter.

Looking on Google now there's new houses on there so they must've moved out at least 10 years ago.

The time when I used to catch that 777 was around 2000-2001ish until Stagecoach took over the routes and introduced the 717 etc. (when Coleshill Parkway train station was getting ready to open)

They may have ran out of Park Road as well, as they used to run the Tesco Bedworth free bus as well.

What I'm remembering them from is from the introduction of this service:

https://www.ebay.ie/itm/A-Line-Travel-Airline-777-Atherstone-Birmingham-International-Airport-1999-/254195781651

That ran out of Mancetter, which after random Googling may have been an old "De Luxe" garage. Not 100% sure on that, though.

I did also look at their current website; not been updated since 2015!

Yes, A-Line Coaches Ltd did run out of Park Road, Bedworth - the one-time Vanguard Coaches base.  A-Line took over De Luxe of Mancetter, near Atherstone, in 1999 and used the garage there for around three years or so.

The original A-Line Coaches Ltd ceased trading in 2013, but a new company - A-Line Coaches Coventry Ltd - was formed.  It is this new company which has now been called for the PI, and it has only ever operated coaches.

That's what happened! Thank you Justin, I knew I weren't going totally crazy.

Got a quick phone shot of that one yesterday at 1700 passing Pool Meadow.
