Theres got to be thousands of pounds of loss revenue due to  trams not carrying advertising.

I think that if they wanted ads on the trams they would of had them on by now the new trams were here in 2014 so 4 years & no ads

On the last time I caught a tram from West Brom into city ages ago but this year, there was no conductor, so how often does that happen?

Hardly ever, if at all.
In the two years I used the tram most days, there was a conductor every trip, however it was very busy, they sometimes wouldn't reach me by the time I got off.

It's not exactly lost revenue, it's just not gained revenue.
