And now with Central taking over the 142 is probably going to end up hourly and so even less people use it. I think it started going downhill when the frequency was cut from half hourly to every 40 mins, that sort of frequency is just not useful so I guess passengers deserted it from then

I still think that the lack of branding and quality of some of the buses havs also led to the decline.

How long has the 142 actually been with diamond? I remember some very old darts with the square headlights??

I'm not a scumbag. It was in reply to a post above, at first I thought he was asking how the X16 and 297 are doing (think they still operated), but after reading it again it looks like he is using those withdrawls as examples to Trident 4194, so I deleted my post.

In future, please just use the Modify button to add a correction to the post, rather than removing the entire content. For example:

EDIT: sorry, didn't realise the X16 and 297 were already withdrawn

According to the latest TfWM services changes update central will be running the service hourly between Stourbridge and Halesowen. Dunstall Road will no longer be served as they will run direct via Huntingtree Road and Highfield Lane.

Shame as Diamond have only just got the evening 142 and the extension between Halesowen and the QE seemed well used when I have seen it or used it. Perhaps it's only a peak thing and it's quiet during the days. However with the 244 now half hourly on the QE side and Hansons only running into Harborne during peaks it seems like there was potential for growth east of Halesowen.

Hang on.

So they've just won the evening & Sunday contact but now withdrawn their daytime commercial service?

Confused :l

The logic is unreal. The 142 between Halesowen and Stourbridge has been one of the more successful diamond routes in my opinion. They tried worlds end it failed, they tried QE which apparently also failed

Anyone know the link to the new central Timetable?

I don't see what you don't get and how you say the logic is unreal.

It loses loads of money, needs thousands more passengers to break even. Simons has told you that. So it is not successful

But surely if the 142 is that unsuccesfull, then surely it should be subsidised?
Pensnett is my local garage. Favourite bus of all time is Fleetline 6360 (KON 360P).

Why?

Just because an operator cannot make a success of a commercial route doesn't mean TfWM should step in and keep it running.

Tony.
The tender documents had gone out I believe before Central indicated an interest.
