The only thing I don't like with the Plaxtons and ALXs is that it's rare to see and ALX400 or a President with a crazy cooling fan. I can name more geminis than ALX400s that have had crazy cooling fans, like 4507, 4660, 4423 and 4671. The only ALXs and Presidents I know that have cooling fans are 4086 and 4258. Plaxtons just break down and catch fire, the ALXs are just too slow when accelerating.

4423 is an ALX400 bodied B7TL at Coventry.  I suspect all ALX400s and Presidents have cooling fans...

Would it even be legal for a B7 to be on the road without one?

4423 does not have a loud cooling fan and as far as I'm aware never has, although 4424 used to but recently had it fixed same with a lot of the b7tls at Coventry. I think it's fairly easy to fix but it means the bus needs to be having down time so I think they wait until the bus is due some down time until they fix the loud cooling fan issue.
Favourite buses currently:
871, 1828, 4421, 4764, 6101, 6108, 6116, 6118, 6121, 6848, 6849
Least favourite buses currently:
4203, 4213, 4398, 4419

I know they all have cooling fans but I mean they are not crazy at all. I can understand the Volvo B7TL ALX400 since it has an intercooler.

I take it that WB 524 has been withdrawn too (I might have missed that one!).

Yep, updated my own notes - almost the end of B6 operations at WB.

292, 517, 530, 541, 1581, 1595 and 4075 have all left Miller Street to PVS in the last few days.

9697 the old 8 seat Ford Transit has also gone for scrap.

The Five last remaining Excels are not in the current batch of disposals but will be leaving soon. Anyone want to preserve one? or is this one of the types of buses from the WMT/NXWM fleet that are going to disappear forever.

Compared to some of the buses that have been sold for preservation they will not be that expensive if previous prices for Excels are anything to go by, so if there is anyone out there who wants to end up with a unique preserved bus instead of one of the crowd they need to make themselves known to NXWM in the near future!

Sorry to quote something from a while ago but who would be the best point of contact regarding the purchase of an Optare Excel for preservation
