Quote from: dw1308 on August 24, 2023, 09:59:24 PMI'm not sure what routes BC could pick up because dead milage has to be taken into consideration, it would have to be a route that goes into the city centre given the location (currently) of the garage. Me personally I would like to see something like the 6 or the 67 come to BC but that's me.
As many local garages closed during the last 30-40 years you're going to get dead mileage on all the routes served by the few garages left. But clever allocations and interworking or odd workings by a different garage can reduce this as much as possible.

Quote from: Tony on August 20, 2023, 10:53:53 AMCoventry is 100% electric today for the first time
Do the services operated by E200 and B7 not operate on sundays? And if they do, is there anything preventing these services being operated by the BYD E400 during the week?

Quote from: 2206 on August 19, 2023, 09:03:34 PMSaw a 14 come through Ward End on the Washwood Heath Road about 20:30. 4799 I think.
Buses diverted away from Alum Rock Road due to Afghanistan Independence Day 'celebrations'.

Tram 50 was out today not in service. I can't recall seeing that one before, and I've scrolled back a while and can't see a mention of it. Certainly looked externally immaculate and shiny anyway!

Quote from: Trident 4194 on August 16, 2023, 10:50:12 AMI never got to travel on those enviros with the leather seats. What was the reason for getting rid of the leather?
They all went for refurbishment. And retrimmed in standard moquette. Probably cheaper as well as looking smarter and possibly more hardwearing.

Have they not given up on the stupid idea of cross city services yet?

Quote from: ellspurs on August 02, 2023, 09:54:04 AMThe last Google Street view image, but I think the TWM signs have come down since then.

I think there might have been noise issues with it (like Washwood Heath), or it was just something they didn't feel they needed at the time, as it is a bit small (especially in comparison to Acocks Green).

Back while it was still open
The TWM signs are still up at LH.
As far as I know, unlike Quinton, Washwood Heath wasn't closed for noise complaints. It was built in 1907 and at 90 years old it was the oldest and possibly the smallest capacity on the system. It just wasn't really suitable for modern bus operation anymore.

Quote from: Wumpty on July 31, 2023, 09:32:16 AMIt's certainly a far cry from the mid 90s when they'd just plonk a decal over the multitude of absorbed buses from Central Liner, Yourbus and Metrowest.

NXWM 4672 (wmbusphotos.com)
It's exactly the same. Plonking a decal on a multitude of liveries. On my local route I can catch buses in red/white, blue/white, crimson, NXC blue, platinum, new grey. Some say West Midlands on the side, some say Coventry, some have ugly big red stickers slapped on the sides and rear claiming to be 'on loan'. It's a mess.

Quote from: Stevo on July 28, 2023, 05:29:03 PM1965 Birmingham Fleetline 3531 was fire-damaged and after some years was rebodied by Metro-Cammell as 5531. Perhaps not really modern, though.
I was thinking much later than that. I know of rebodied Birmingham, Coventry and WMPTE vehicles. But nothing I can think of after the 70s. Possibly the rebodied Grey Green B10M coaches rebodied as double deck buses, but that's about the last I can think of.

Have there been any cases of modern buses being rebodied due to fire or accident? I can't think of any but then again I don't keep tracks of all operators any more. I think 4014 came quite close at one time, but wasn't the plan someone like Northern Counties or East Lancs rather than Optare?

Quote from: Tony on July 24, 2023, 05:41:03 PMYesterday a problem tree was also found on the 997 route, so all running boards that were to be allocated Hydrogens had to revert to platinums until either a) running boards are revised or b) the tree is trimmed
What's the difference between an E400 getting bashed by a tree and a Hydrogen?

Quote from: Westy on July 24, 2023, 05:33:34 PMDon't know about the other operators,  but Nx have that name that changes every day on the ticket, so theoretically that shouldn't happen!
You think a word that changes daily stops this? The date changes every day too. That doesn't stop it either. You really must be totally oblivious to what goes on on the buses.

Recently I've noticed it's become more and more common for people to be asking for a daysaver and paying with a card and getting a paper ticket. A couple of questions. Why does this service need to be offered when you can just tap and cap? Or is that not available when using multi operator services?
Or is this the new way for would be future fare dodgers? Buy one ticket and use it all week!

Quote from: Jack on July 23, 2023, 06:03:16 PMTake it you didn't read, but I was suggesting it because it means that something can then instead terminate on Priory Queensway, there was never an issue when they stopped there before. That stop can become quite a pain when there's more than 2 buses there.

I much prefer the stop at Dale End, it saves doing a walk all the way up, as what a lot of people i've heard today have said.

I wonder what will serve the stops opposite the Peg.
'Saves doing a walk all the way up'! You being serious? It takes a minute. Two whole minutes if you walk slow.
