Title: First Livery
Post by: BK63 YWP on February 07, 2016, 10:21:07 PM
Is first going towards the different coloured front and purple/white towards the back for its livery now. Tbh it looks nice and the different coloured front is a good way of route branding

The coloured fronts is the idea of a branding exercise which tbh I would have thought confused pax when a bus ended up on the wrong route. Ultimately it is up to each local manager on whether branding is happening or not. For example, First Midlands is rolling out branding with the fuschia front, whereas locally First South Yorkshire aren't doing anything relating to branding, the closest is the interurban livery on the X78 Streetdecks which are just wearing the livery.

I can understand where your coming from, for example when a first leicester was doing the rugby world cup buses, it had a red front which from a distance looking at it from the front looks like an nx vehicle.

Huddersfield, Norwich and Ipswich are other places adopting this branding style. Nice variety of colour schemes. But they should make their priority to phase out Barbie livery where possible.

Completely agree. The old idea of branding was awful for a double decker although for a single decker wasn't actually too bad, the main issue on a decker that all the branding was stuck onto the glass. The fronts, whilst a nice touch if people know which routes are branded for what, can get confusing when misallocated or a fully Olympia liveried bus turns up. Personally, whilst it adds colour, the entire exercise of a complete repaint to brand a bus seems pointless to me, especially when so many Barbie liveried vehicles are still running around, generally in a pretty poor state with their liveries.
