Title: Buses on Ebay
Post by: trident4370 on October 07, 2013, 01:07:33 AM
Forgive me if I've missed a very obvious topic but I couldn't find anything from a few searches. Just thought I'd start this for any local or interesting (not the usual deckers that are relisted every week) buses seen on ebay / other bus sales. For instance De Courcey 570 is currently for sale.

OK, so its not eBay but I have to post this.

http://usedcoachsales.co.uk/coach.ihtml?coach=1109

2x 1983 MCW Metrobuses for sale, one looks like 2464 and the other I can't identify but they're both ex-TWM , and they're both on the pricey side but it looks like a good project a certain someone can undertake in their retirement...

All 4 look pretty tidy to me! Good that you can still get them, the bit about the car license interests me, can anyone just jump in and drive one then as long as its not for hire or reward? And would you have to take all the other seats out or just 'promise' not to take more than 8, but either way imagine the insurance would be pretty expensive

Insurance is not too bad for preserved vehicles, most owners use the same company and as mileage is normally very low (not many people can afford to run thousands of miles with the current cost of diesel, and most are driven carefully as the owners will not want to damage their pride and joy, the premiums tend to reflect this

Exactly Tony. Remember its not like a car; there is no option to use this as 'Social Domestic and Commuting to a single place of work' - hahaha

Providing you're over 21 (some are over 25) the cost of premiums I've seen when researching is about £350~ , anyone can drive providing they're over 25. If you're looking to insure someone who's 17, you can forget it - they wouldn't even quote.

Sold by Arriva to North West Bus Sales, now being sold by Geoff Ripley, well known scrap dealer who will sell anything that turns up as a runner. Shows how difficult these things are to get rid off

Not doubting you, but how have you identified that as 1411?

Incidently 1411 is not for sale on ebay even if that is 1411 in the photo

Why not put a pic of the actual bus instead of a bus that obviously isn't it??

The bus in the photo is definitely 1411, only P*** EJW with cameras and the first set of windows missing. whether or not they are actually claiming to sell 1411 is another matter but it is definitely a pic of it being used.

Perhaps i phrased it wrong, if it is 1411, what condition is it in now, how can you possibly buy it based on a pic of a number of years ago?

The listing itself screams suspicious to me anyway, if you look at the other photo of the interior, it is a completely different bus.

I suspect 1411 is probably only fit for scrap from what I've been told after someone asked me about buying an ex Line 33 B10L for preservation, may be wrong, it hasn't been imspected recently

It is certainly very cheap for a B7TL, which appear to hold their value better than Tridents do (unsurprisingly). However, it's still got Irish plates on it so would need a COIF to be used in the UK, and getting that would have to be factored in to the cost. Such things are best left to the likes of Ensign, although ex-Dublin kit is well looked after and the first batch of 50 B7TLs Ensign brought across sold in about five minutes.

A very cheap price of £350 for this broken down Optare Solo... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1999-optare-bus-spares-or-repairs-/252303072910?hash=item3abe6f5e8e:g:hyEAAOSwX~dWpJhx

That is not how ebay works, there is probably a reserve price, and it is an auction, so chances are, even if you bid £400, the current highest bidder might already have a higher bid in
