Was told a few days ago that the Olympians at Wardies are being replaced by DAF DB250///Alexander ALX400s. The tri axle Leylands have already departed I believe
There are 3 wardles deckers parked up at Cannock
Are they volvo olympians?
Not sure they are the white spotted livery ones
The3 at cannock are the tri axle Leylands.
Theyll probably turn up on the pye greens lol
The 3 tri axle leyland ollys are parked up in cannock withdrawn and are going to be sold shortly
The three tri axles have been sold and must just be awaiting collections.
There was a volvo olympian knocking about in newcastle bus station this morning.
Also, Trident 4895 has now been branded for the X50
Wardles step entry dds are Volvo Olympians 4650/2/87/92 but these must be next out.

I didn't know, not being local i thought it was a new thing
Versa's 2961 and 2962 have been photographed here,

"stripped ready for exit". I presume for a repaint, but I am wondering if they might be transferred out afterwards with that caption
Just a general thread for Wardles, like the Cannock and Wednesfield ones
I think these two are owned by Stoke on Trent City Council so could be being returned to them for re-sale

You are right Ashley. They are going to another operator

I was sort of guessing what their fate was to be honest John. I just knew Wardies don't own some of their Versa fleet
Has the Uttoxeter to Derby section of the X50 been axed or is it going to be?
Darts are proper unreliable cos theyre old. And they weren't designed to handle interurban work on the scale arriva use them on. ..
Is 2258 still in Arriva Wardle Red liverey because she was painted along with sister 2259
The person who told me about 2258 being in Perton was wrong so sorry about that.
A more definate sighting is a number of Darts have been branded "41/42 Hospital Hopper" (think the branded ones are the ex London X-PGT's)

Don't think it's been mentioned on here but most of the white MB minis and coaches transferred over to recently formed Stantons of Stoke a week or so ago.
It's a while since I went to the Potteries so I went yesterday. Most of the changes are with First Potteries and I'll put my observations on that thread.
As far as Arriva Wardles are concerned the only surprise was at Hanley where 4854 the ex-Midland Trident was on the 40. I had not seen any mention of this moving from Wednesfield. I had not realised that Arriva were now working the 16 to Leek via Cheddleton, the previous Berresfords and then Procters service, on a 30 minute frequency - 2263, 3601, 4809 and 4812 were working. 4811 and 4891 were on the 91 at Newcastle along with 3614 and 3616 which changed over while I was there. 4813 and 4896 were on the 19, a usual DD working. 3604 and 3605 were on the X51 to Uttoxeter and Cheadle - the X50 to Derby is no more as has been reported earlier in this thread.
The ex London darts were all in service, 2163 to 2166 are now branded for the 41/42 Hospital Hoppa services but 2167 remains unbranded. Darts 2356 and 2361 were both out on the 42. These are P and S registered respectively and are now 17 and 15 years old. But even older is the L reg First Olympian that was out on the Keele University flagship route 3. That is now 20 years old.
The Buxton Flyer Tempo 3152 was on Newcastle locals 92/94. It was only when I saw it in Newcastle that I realised I had not taken in what was on the 118 to Buxton at Hanley. I have no record of it - it is possible that it came and went whilst i was away from the Bus Station.
Hope this is of interest
I thought 4854 had been withdrawn...

Very much alive in Hanley yesterday. No sign of 4851 though.
4851 is the 1 that was withdrawn due to engine failure and believed to be sold
4790 is here and on the 16 today
Which B6's are currently here?
Has anyone seen Cannocks old centro plaxtons out and about with Wardle???
3736 has been reported elsewhere in use at wardles.
Noted 3582 in Hanley this afternoon, possibly on route 16
Edit
Saw 2630 on the 92 an hour later
Oh... Bet it'd be nice for them to have that one - 2630 is possibly the worst of the original Telford B6BLEs. Hasn't been refurbed (while most others have), and it shakes badly in idle.
Arriva have now sold Wardles to D&G:
http://www.dgbus.co.uk/news.html
@Winston bringing part of the operations d&g sold back to them
I thought wardles did ok to be fair
Am I dreaming? Bob praising Arriva? Whatever next!!
Im surprised thats all. Look what they were competing with, Firat potteries has or did have a pretty tired elderly fleet etc. I would have thought theyd have been able to do well
I wonder whats going to happen with buses Wardle Transport have got will they move to Other Arriva Depots
Cant see the volvos resurfacing anywhere or the deckers

well I guess that explains why with the last round of transfers most of the old MPD's have ended up at Wardles.

3604 is 9504 trainer
3605 is 9505 trainer
wonder if they will bring the wardles name back at stoke or run it all as D&G

Arriva have now sold Wardles to D&G:
http://www.dgbus.co.uk/news.html
Arriva is only transferring 19 of approx 40 current Wardles vehicles to D&G, D&G will merge it's current Longton depot in to the Adderley Green depot of Wardles. Elsewhere, it is suggested it was Arriva who approached D&G and discussion have been taking place the past couple of months. Formal takeover takes place on 9th May

Well Cannock certainly wouldnt be getting any back id imagine? With them being expensive to run. Wasnt that one of the reasons they were gone?

I'm sure a list will be on here shortly along with March transfers. The rest of the fleet will be withdrawn.

Reported elsewhere 2164 appears to be on the list to be transferred as it's been repainted red.
Wonder if many darts will be integrated back into the fleet. Hopefully not!

2163 is also either away for paint into D&G colours or has been treated already. The two red Darts which never completely lost D&G colours (in nearly FOUR YEARS of Arriva ownership...) have also been patched up and are now all-over red again.
16 Darts and three DB250s are to move to D&G, so if Arriva is to honour the repainting part of the deal it will need to get its skates on. Rumour is that the B7TL at D&G Crewe will move to Adderley Green after the deal is completed next month. Both Arriva and Wardle fleetnames have already been removed from many buses at AG.
One of the DLA's now in D&G livery, split second sighting but looked good
The following has been posted by Steve Martin on the Staffordshireandmerseysidebuses Yahoo group:
The buses transferring to D & G are Mini Pointer Darts 2163-67, 2244/45/53-55/58/59/63/65/78/79 and DAF DB250's 4811-13.
That means 2244/45/55/78/79 return to D&G after an almost four-year gap.

Wasn't the Wardle livery still red for the majority of the FOUR YEARS though?

Good try but no cigar. Yes, it was red. But not D&G red - which is exactly what the two Darts still carry despite having been sold to Arriva in August 2011.
Noted 2163 - 67, 2253, 4812 repainted in D&G livery today
Which vehicles are being retained for service? I'm guessing 4808, 4809, 4814. The Darts, B6's and 3614 will go for scrap at a guess.

None i think.
Former 2132 and 2217 are in use at Harlow still with Midlands fleetnumbers/legals.
Former Wardles 4809 is now with Pilkingtons, Accrington.
