May be of interest to some, 4033's interior still in original style TWM moquette.

It was refurbished/retrimmed wasn't it? I thought it was just that they used the old moquette, but still retired.

Yes, the notes I have say that it was retrimmed in the older style moquette rather than the toothpaste style pattern as it was the first one done. That info would have come from a post on here somewhere, not sure if it had any further internal work done other than that? Perhaps I should have worded that post differently :)

Edit: saying that, there was a bit of new floor upstairs along the edges under the seats in the lighter blue found on the toothpaste buses.

That takes me back when these things were beating the tarmac around Woodgate Valley and Quinton, plowing up and down the Hagley Road and dying of death up the Bristol! Leaving 3 minutes up from Corporation Street and booting these things around Stephensons Place, hear the suspension creak as the rig leans over, someones fruit bag falls over and litters the floor with various edible items

Ah, fond times.

Great shots.

One thing Daimler Mercedes Benz are good at is producing excellent Diesel engines, I do miss the sound of the 0405n for all its faults you couldn't knock that 12 litre engine.

It was the prototype refurb, done in-house at BC along with 4115.

It is also one of the very few buses left in the fleet where the CCTV records onto VHS tapes (remember them?)

Certainly brings back some memories, President refurb always struck me as surprisingly comprehensive given the move at the time was to repaint without refurbing buses etc eg the ALX400's. I was surprised they did the full works of replacing flooring etc although 4033's did look tired the last time I caught it. They looked better following the fibre glass internal panels by staircase etc being repainted into a more shiny blue paint scheme and overall came out of refurb looking pretty new!

That livery isn't anything on TWM, but it is fantastic.

Very glad we're seeing this guise on older vehicles.

Actively looking forward to seeing ALX400 in this get-up.

The 2 ex-Coventry Mercedes (They actually look quite tidy and presentable here now with WM logos)

It was my first day using my new DSLR camera, so still learning how to use it. That's why a few pictures are a bit blurred!

And there's me thinking all the mercs ceased. Why are they still operating after that farewell day?
