Would it be legal to re-register any Mercedes Varios as Coaches,without standing capacity,and run them for a further period?

That is debatable and I haven't found a definite answer yet.

In legal terms if you certify a vehicle without standing passengers then it becomes a coach, so the DDA rules do not apply until 2020, but the DDA rules seem to refer more to stage carriage services and have a slightly different definition of a coach.

So yes, recertify it and you can definitely use it on Private Hires etc, but whether you can then use it on 'bus' services I am still waiting to see an answer.

Incidently Stagecoach's interurban coaches are licensed for 8 standing so are legally buses, so fall foul of DDA rules at the end of this year without recertification!
