To be honest, in Stagecoach livery that doesn't really look all that special or different from the current E400
Now in exile in Oxfordshire....

I saw that too as I was coming back from the Airport. Looked like it was on a test of some sort, as there were people in Hi-Vizs on it and something stuck to the offside with black tape

That appears to be an MMC on a Scania Chassis. Looking towards the back at the nearside, it looks different compared to that of an MMC on a E40D Chassis. Plus, it appears to have a different window layout on the upper deck (8 windows compared to the 7 I've counted on the E40D chassis). First MMC's on the Scania Chassis presumably which Stagecoach are receiving 30 alongside 50 bodied on the previous bodywork.

Mentioned in the order here:

Details of the new orders are as follows:

UK REGIONAL OPERATIONS
50 ADL Enviro 400 Scania double-deckers
30 ADL MMC E400 Scania double-deckers

57 ADL MMC E400 double-deckers
10 Wrightbus Eclipse Volvo single-deckers
28 ADL Enviro 300 Scania single-deckers
89 ADL Enviro 300 single-deckers
33 ADL MMC E200 11.9metre midibuses
27 ADL Enviro 200 midibuses
23 ADL MMC E200 10.8metre midibuses
42 Optare Solo minibuses
23 Optare Solo Slimline minibuses
12 Volvo Plaxton Elite 12.5metre coaches
44 Volvo Plaxton Ellite i 15metre coaches (8 left-hand-drive)

LONDON
7 ADL MMC E400 double-deckers
8 ADL MMC E200 10.8metre midibuses

Cheers for that @Kiewii. I knew it wasn't an ADL Chassis MMC

It is more likely a Volvo, as Stagecoach Strathtay are due Volvo B5/E400 MMCs within the next two to three weeks.

A little odd if so, going from Scotland (or possibly Yorkshire) to the Midlands then to Scotland again. ADL deliveries for further south (London being a good example) usually stop off at Stagecoach's Nuneaton Garage for refuelling on the way. I'm at a loss for what other local companies would loan one for tests.

Could it have been having work done at Grayson Thermal Sytems @ Elmdon Trading Estate?

Definitely looks like a Volvo to me. Compare it to this photo https://www.flickr.com/photos/94572590@N02/16331669507/in/favorites-101550299@N05/

Interesting that this is in Stagecoach standard rather than Hybrid green livery. The wheelbase also looks longer than on the Wright B5LHs.

It is a Volvo B5TL and has been testing at Millbrook for the past weeks, so will no doubt have come from there.

Ah so not a hybrid then? That would explain the livery.

Stagecoach do not have any Volvo B5TLs on order?

barry619

OK. Whatever it is then, it's a Volvo, and while it is in Stagecoach livery it may be a development/demonstration vehicle which will end up on long-term loan to Stagecoach rather than being part of any announced order by the group... hence its presence at Millbrook for the last X weeks!!
