I see that 3116  is now in White and can be seen in a Taxi yard in Chelmsley Wood (the 94 passes the yard)

iTS GOING TO BE A PARTY bus, such a waste if you ask me. It will probably be around for 6months then scrapped shortly after :-(

Ashley

What a waste, should have gone into preservation if you ask me

Gareth

Great photo and information I never knew. The late 30**-3124 were intended for Birmingham garages, but assumed they were delivered new to their new homes in the Black Country after the plans changed.

3116 was new to Quinton for a short while

I never saw 3116 in service at Quinton, 3111 & 3112 were intended for QN, but not sure they saw much if any service there. 3057 was the only one I saw on a regular basis on the 19 to Hasbury

Bob

Did walsall have any of the F/G reg metros from new?

Gareth

I'm pretty sure they missed out. The MK2A Metrobus being a very rare beast in Walsall for many years.

Bob

Ive got vague memories of getting 1 on.a 301 in about 1989 at cannock, but it couldve been loaned

Gareth

I may be wrong but possibly 3057. Something in my mind says I've seen a photo somewhere on a Walsall route after leaving Quinton but before it got to Cleveland Road.

I looked at my April 1989 fleetlist and 2975-3124 were in the course of delivery at the time. It has 3045/6, 3070-2, 3094-3096 as registered and at Walsall. Was this correct? sadly I wasn't living in the West Midlands then, so can't confirm this.

Gareth

I wonder if this was part of the original allocation list. A few here and a few there at various garages. I'm sure it was then 3097-99 at Washwood Heath and 3100-02 at Lea Hall, or something very similar.

Some people on this forum know some of the following information, all of us know that the WM Metrobus was something we all liked and all miss in this area so really just a bit of an update for those that don't know and or may be interested.

2205  - now in preservation
2865 - now with Total travel of leicester
3116 still parked in the yard of the taxi firm near chelmsley wood (it was a week or so ago anyway)

Sadly a few have gone to the bus depot in the sky
2715 and 2870 are at PVS barnsley, 2963(8103) is also on site still a whole bus, 2653, 3034, 3089 and 3098

If I've missed anything, then you can always check out the "MCW Metrobus" facebook page and the "west midlands MCW Metrobus" tribute page on facebook
