I was going to go, and then remembered it was Mothers Day, so I will be at a family do instead.

Sadly I can't see my mum wanting to be taken to Coventry to see this event!  :D

An advert now appears for this event on the big screen outside the museum between the usual drivel.
It features an 18th century open top bus facing right nose on to a NXC liveried Enviro.

I will be there, coming over for an extended weekend. Mothers Day seems to be loosing a few attendees and getting a bit of criticism but 30th March is the exact centenary and the fact it fell on a Sunday was an opportunity that couldn't be passed over. The main organiser has put a lot of personal money into the event so it will be great to see as many people as possible. The main focus is running preserved buses on heritage routes which for me anyway is more interesting than having a generally rally. The screens in the square will be playing archive video footage.

2462 left just after 4pm. I managed to get a ride on Bristol VRT/MCW 4413 to Keresley Road and back (my first ever ride on a WMPTE Bristol) followed by, later-on Leyland Lynx 1266 for a return trip to the Brownshill Green terminus (I've not been aboard one of those for a while, so that was nice). I have not come across 3057 before, good to see it in its 1989 blue/silver livery. MCW was well represented - and the free bus rides proved quite popular.

Ah my first ever VR believe it or not! I think they underestimated how busy it would be, certainly fair to say today was a huge success

Was that the first time a VR has been in Coventry?
( Was on 4413 at Aston Manor last week! )

I think the same bus (4413) attended the event organised at the [former] Sandy Lane garage in Coventry, in May 2012. Not sure it was giving rides - maybe it did, I can't quite remember?!

Excellent event especially as the buses were displayed
outside the museum and able to be moved to take up service.
It was noted there was a fair bit of sand outside the museum this morning. Nothing like the amount after there had been a display of 35 mini metros and every car had its own drip tray!

Midland Red (South) acquired various second hand VRT's in the 1990's. Possibly some of these made it into the City on the various routes towards Leamington and Stratford?
