Hi All,
Anybody got an up to date fleetlist of this company?
Regards.
According to Staffordshire CC website's latest list of changes Solus are taking on the 82/84 at Tamworth from May 19th - does anyone know what they are using on the Lichfield/Rugeley routes taken over previously?
;
Passing on the train last week I thought I caught a glimpse of a Warwickshire Solo in their yard.

Looking at the photos I'm surprised it is only 5, one photo looked like more than that in a line ablaze

He said 8 (not 5), with 5 completely destroyed and a further 3 seriously damaged, which explains why there seems to be more than that onfire.

No it doesn't. I'm not that daft. There is a line of destroyed coaches then 3 in front with burnt back ends
Apparently they managed to save 15 coaches.
Have a look at the video on here (the one timed at 15:42), there looks like a line of about a dozen all on fire, then there's photos of separate ones damaged https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/live-updates-large-fire-rips-15608389?fbclid=IwAR0oEldhMnvdSn-i7x5gO9Xrm0sIeKVNGRU8RBzERd_xJq-W3zUXG_WrSwc

According to this job advert on Indeed, BBK Group (who own BM Coaches) have now acquired Solus Coaches in Tamworth...

Confirmed by the companies house website. Interestingly(?) one of the new directors appears to be a director of the Bluebell Railway.
Solus Coaches appear to be recruiting for Bus Drivers to operate services in the Solihull & Sutton Coldfield areas...

Yes they are. It would suggest that they intend to bid for contracts or possibly launch commercial services in the near future following acquisition by Hayes based BBK Holdings. Solus already run school services I believe.

I'm hearing that they will be taking over operation of two commercial services as sub contractor.

There's Diamond's Tamworth outstation to consider too..
Could they take on the Stagecoach contract services as subcontractor, the way that First Devon and Cornwall subcontracted services in Torquay to former local operator Local Link? Buses used were in First livery but not owned by them.

I'm pretty sure that TfWM tender contracts don't work like that.
Services in Chelmsley Wood area according to the drivers.
o_O what on earth would they want to do around here? a9 and 71 are the only Stagecoach services, the Diamond service 96 or the NX ones. Oh and the Landflight a10.

The recruitment agency was advising potential recruits it was the 71 and 73 services they were taking over Monday to Saturday. Appears to have gone very quiet though on that front
Solus Travel are to run 2 new routes commencing from Monday morning:
25 Erdington to Hodge Hill.
600 Erdington to Brookvale Park.

I believe this is the first time this operator will have ran public local bus services in a few years at least.

So bidding on and winning this contract had nothing to do with the local politicians, who as usual are trying to take credit and make themselves look good.

Busview has them operating a varied selection of new and 'pre-owned' buses - we wait with interest.
Let's hope an announcement - preferably by TfWM - is made very soon.
Any ideas how we can track solus in bus times? And what bus will be used tomorrow?
I guess you'll need to get over to Erdington and observe them in person.
Solus Travel are using Enviro 200 MMC YX68 UKT on the 25/600 service. Vehicle had been branded for both services.

That's quite smart - simple but effective branding. Fair play to them for making a proper effort at this, now hopefully they can improve on the passenger loadings!
Always welcoming to see a new operator join the fray, look forward to them bidding on more contracts later this year.

Personally I find the joint route branding confusing - especially with it repeated. The routes don't have anything in common with each other !

Yeah, the repetition is a bit unnecessary, but it makes sense to have both routes shown as the same vehicle is used.
Hopefully soon they will become bus open data compliant and therefore track and have their timetable data online.

E200 YN61GBO on the workings in Erdington this morning in all over white with BM fleetnames and legals. Looked tidy enough.

This operator seems to of gone down the pan since the new owners took the reins, the coach fleet is already looking battered and un kept with lots of body work damage and gaffer tape holding them together a far cry to what it was. Even the service buses look dog rough that e200 mmc 68 plate not a straight panel on it and covered in gaffer tape. shame how its gone.
Looking forward to see how these cope with the 71/71A on Sundays. I presume it will be E200S used.

I've seen a photo of YUI 2774 out too, which I'm guessing YX58 HVB has replaced at some point in the day.
Solus Coaches have started running the 62 from today which I'm told is Leamington Spa to Myton Green. Can't find any information about the service online though. Seen a photo of YUI 2774 on it though still branded for Gatwick Hoppa.

It's listed on the Warwickshire Council website but when you click on view timetable, it's takes you to Microsoft Office with Warwickshire council login page.
Big round of applause for Warwickshire throwing taxpayers money away on a service that no one knew would start and no one has any information for bar your single leaflet. If people in councils had half a braincell, they would be dangerous.
The link to the 62 timetable on the Warwickshire CC website has not yet been fixed, but here it is: -

I would guess that either Solus have handed the contract back, or TfWM have stripped it from them.
i hear from a m8 of mine thats works here, that Solus has been taken over again by another new arrangment of ownership as of 28th Feb.

Heard on the grapevine that Solus are supposedly changing their trading name, and today ive seen at least 3 solus vehicles stripped of all solus identity that was previously liveried up.
