Megabus coach service maybe?

Correct.

Tridents and E400s regularly deputised on Megabus in the early years.

I had-might even still have them-pictures of one of the 03 reg Tridents which,at the time, were allocated to Leyton, which I got in Kings Norton.  I'm fairly certain that I have a picture of 18255 in London and definitely have a picture of one of the Newcastle based Enviros on Megabus work in Victoria.
Don't judge me until you've walked in my size ten shoes.

Wasn't just East London Tridents, I have a photo of Olympian 16003 P803GMU on Snow Hill Queensway on Megabus duties.

Stagecoach Warwickshire Olympians were regulars on Birmingham - London as well - particularly Leamington's 16614 and 16615 if I remember correctly.  Rugby garage operated that service at first, and if no Megabus Olympian was available, a B10M/Alexander DP would be provided.

On a slightly different note, I recall once driving down the M6 and seeing a Megabus ex-Hong Kong Olympian on service broken down near Stafford - a long, long way from the nearest Stagecoach depot.  I wondered how long it would before passengers and vehicle were rescued ...

I remember spotting one of the Stagecoach Manchester Volvo Olympians passing through Swiss Cottage in North London, cannot remember which one it was though.
