I thought I'd start a new Unusual Workings for Stagecoach.
I have spotted
An Enviro 400 on X17 (Unibus Branding)
36216 was on the 86 (Branded as 4)
Unibus 10037 is on the 28.
68 branded versa was on X17 late last week
One of the 48 branded E200's was on the 785 today, don't know which one though

The Sunday Tamworth 118/119/785/786 interwork off the Sunday's only 48 extension to Tamworth, so anything other than a 48 branded one will be a rare spotting and they do happen - I've nabbed a picture of a Matrix branded MAN E200 on the 119 shortly before my 48 branded E200 returned to Nuneaton on the 48.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1431711017109456&l=30c3019388
For Weekdays and Saturdays, the early morning 767 journeys are 48 branded E200s again with daytime 766 journeys tending to be 1x 60 plate E200 & 1x 62 plate E200. I've not been on to see what runs the ones more later in the evening. I have again spotted a MAN E200 on the 766 in Birch Coppice at around 4.15pm before which is a bit naughty as they don't meet the contractual regulations for the 766 service (the 767 is off Stagecoach's own back with help from Ocado).
Sorry for rambling on a bit! :-X
By the way, would anybody like to travel from Rugby to Hong Kong on a MAN Enviro 300?

I thought it was normal to see the Unibus Enviros on there
@Matt I don't really know, every time i used to see the X17 a couple of months ago, it had used to be an X17/19 branded E200, although considering that would make 4 that were on there (10032, 10034, 10035 and 10037), they very well could be...
The Unibus Enviros appear on the X15/X16/X18 from time to time. Ive never seen any decker on the X17/X19
Double deckers appear on X17 especially during University holidays when there is a reduced service on the high frequency U1 route from Leamington.
Next time I wont bother, clearly always wrong
Yesterday:
39687 on the 48
Today:
47076 on the 5 (not one of the usual journeys)
47071 on the 56 - good thing it's the school holidays or that wouldn't have been fun!
16685 - Rugby 3
35183 is today on the X17.
By the way, the 18:35 (?) Stratford to Coventry X17 is booked a double decker, Unibus or Trident most of the time as the bus is from the depot.
Stagecoach Yorkshire Fleetline open topper MBE613R out on the 39 in Chesterfield today, more due to a vehicle shortage it would seem rather than any particular event.

It's not due to a vehicle shortage - it was announced a while ago as some sort of a bank holiday celebration. I'm not sure why - here's the link of its duties for the day:
https://www.stagecoachbus.com/tis-service-update-details.aspx?id=6688&hootPostID=960091269eb40bcae240ed033e92e171
I think this may hold the record for a route branded bus furthest away from its branded route.
Stagecoach Enviro400 19652 branded for Tayway 73 (Dundee - Monifeith - Carnoustie - Arbroath) in service 550 miles away on service 1A in Eastbourne!
You would have thought they would have removed the branding before putting it into service after its transfer.

I like how the two Stagecoach buses have pulled in at each other's stops!
There's barely anywhere to spend layover time now they've made all the roads so thin and reduced the amount of bus stops.

Stagecoach won't use it due to the charges Centro levy on each bus using the station (or so they say), the introduction of such charges to use St. Margaret's in Leicester is precisely the reason that they pulled the 48 out of there.
It's quite silly really, it's not like they can't afford to use it! The city is getting more and more buses with less and less stops, they might soon end up with no choice...
I do wonder if Stagecoach would consider using it if Centro just charged all companies a good value price for a year's usage, to cover staffing and maintenance costs etc., regardless of how little or largely they actually use the station. Do they still have that layover bay?
Also, no other divisions seem to mind paying station usage costs as far as I'm aware?

ALX 200 22376 on the 86 today.
10 branded 36756 working the 55/56/57 today.
18401 was on the X17 yesterday (Saturday 14th November)
18399 was also on the X17 too and a Goldline Solo on the 68 along with two PP2 Darts
34627 KX54OPB has been on the 55/56/57 all day over in Nuneaton
16640 on X16
Edit: I misread it, it was 16460.
18402 on X17
18398 on X17 yesterday.
Also, 15675 was on the 50 (Stratford - Shipston and return) and the 50A (Stratford to Banbury and return) yesterday, very unusual for a Scania to be on the 50A.
Also, 16538 and 16539 were on the Stratford City Sightseeing tours yesterday, due to 17412/17417 being VOR - Still unusual to have 2 Sightseeing Olympians out in November..
Nothing unusual about an Olympian on the X16.
18322 X17, 35185 X17, 18398 X17! Nice, mixed day on the X17.
Rather shockingly, 35178 was also on the X17!!!!
Also, 16695 was on the X16. Not unusual but certainly noteworthy now!
34594 on the 55/56/57 in Nuneaton today. Now becoming more uncommon as 39693 is in Nuneaton.

39688 is on the last Atherstone 48 (87 duty), the bus gets left in the Bus Station on a Coventry bound 48 from Atherstone at 19.50 by a Tamworth driver after doing 766's and 767's for the day before the 87 duty driver takes it over. So unless it was swapped at 8pm, it's also been on Tamworth's today.

Not rare, this is actually booked. The Rugby bus only goes as far as Rugby (Then does a 63) - A Stratford bus then takes over to Evesham.
Thanks Ben. I failed to appreciate this as the journey is not advertised either in the timetable or on Bus Checker Internet search engine.
Stagecoach's wonderful new website says the X17 doesn't exist when I searched for the timetable.
A hyperlink from a list of the changes returned the old timetable with a filename of the new date.
Passengers should expect better than this from United Counties.....

There was a standard E200 on the 56 in its place, 36176 I think it was. Seems to have become really common now they're no longer branded. I'm surprised there wasn't more, given how late everything was today.
My favourite will always be 40150 on a peak time Coventry - Leicester 48, I bet that was a barrel of laughs!
Or Olympian 14515 on the 57, which then changed to a 56 at Coventry, got back to Nuneaton and belted the railway bridge on Attleborough Road (only minor though).

Brave! 39689 is known to over heat fairly often.
On another note: 3620Late - 1/2/9. 36175 - 55/56/57
39686 - 48
39691 - 48 (Again!)
39687 - 48 (Brave...)
39686 would also be on the 48, but is currently replacing 39692 which has spat its dummy out and over heated.

Should not be on the route at all, think its fair that a bus which should not be on a route like that should get reported. Or maybe another thread.
Not sure if this is noteworthy? 17696 on X18.

Thanks,

36171 operated the last 56 tonight in place of a Transbus Dart, due to a late running of the 48 the driver does before swapping bus and doing the 56.
39681 - 48
On a different running board this time though, one of the first out the garage!
An unidentified Solo made it out on to the 56 during the afternoon peak (bet that was fun!).
39689 also joined previously mentioned 39681 on the 48 - only mentioning this as it was the 1-a-day Kingsbury run it was on.
Solo is now booked on the 55/56 now I believe. 16:23 55 off Nuneaton and then 56 return.

Thanks for the update, i've not seen the boards since they changed! The journey was a 56 Coventry bound though so no idea of the driver had just changed the blind extremely early (Lythalls Lane junction) or if it was an additional Solo out and about.

A Trident is a Trident. An E400 is an E400. Whether or not they're from the same family, they are two different things and will always insist that.

Been told by a mate who was in Rugby this afternoon saw 10728 on the 63 and an 86 branded on the 96. He also saw a Solo on the Leamington 67 and all four variations of E400 on the U1 plus a Dart and a Trident.

Because he lives there. Again, no need for the attitude!
What attitude? English? Any branded bus on any route is common in Northampton. They genuinly just put anything on anything.

I find it a little difficult to regard anything as particularly unusual with Stagecoach Northamptonshire, though perhaps an E400 on the X7 might be noteworthy.
Today (6 Mar 17) 19087 was on the 3 (Corby Shire Road - Danesholme). The PVR for the 3 is five; 15401-05 are branded for it and all were in service today but only three on route 3. Today it was worked by 15403/4/5 and 19084/7. 15401 was on the 1; 15402 was on the 24 (Oundle - Peterborough). A double-decker, 19083, on the X1 was the nearest to an unusual working in Corby today. Yet another appearance on the X4 by 15455 certainly couldn't be termed unusual.
I can't help thinking that it would be of more interest to West Midlands enthusiasts to tell them something about more regular interesting happenings that some of them might want to see. Today, for example, I've seen eight MANs of the batch that entered service at Cambridge in 2001, operating services throughout the day in Peterborough. At least one, 22339, still has full route branding (37: Peterborough - Spalding). This batch entered service before the Stagecoach national numbering scheme took effect: 22339 began life simply as Stagecoach Cambus number 39. There are precious few buses still operated by Stagecoach that have that attribute.
They're still at Peterborough to be seen, travelled on and photographed.

But what is the fundamental reason for so many substitutions on the X4? Are there serious engineering problems with the 13 Kettering Golds. Yesterday, having seen 18128 at Isham on what I assume was the 15 minute late 11:15 ex Peterborough, I went past Kettering garage and there were at least two Golds on there.
Are the Scanias knackered? Are there problems elsewhere in the empire with Scania Golds? Is there any significance in Oxford's latest Golds not being Scanias?

What's 34864? I've got it as a Dart at Exeter.
The two 96s I saw this afternoon were 36210 & 36952.
I'd have thought 22841 (and the other MAN 300s) was the most likely substitute if any of the E200s have a sicknote.

Nuneaton can now only have 4 buses VOR max per day. Today 36207 had a smash in Tamworth, and 36751's wheels were quickly placed back on to replace it, when the bus was back in Nuneaton (left for the 8pm 48) 36159 was put on the road, and 36751 back onto the pits.
X44 has produced some variety: 22838 (8:20 Monday), 15935 (4:30, 7:00 Monday), 15942 (5:50 Monday), 18155 (8:20 Tuesday).
Will see if this settles down over the next few weeks. On all the buses there have been no passengers.

Speaking of double deckers, new route X44 seems to be worked by deckers all the time. Hardly necessary, as the most crowded bus I've yet seen had 4 passengers!

I always hesitate to get involved in "unusual" workings topics especially with Stagecoach. But where will Nuneaton's spare golds "usually" turn up? I'd guess the Matrix routes would be particularly likely, especially on Sundays. Time may tell.
But at the moment, with the reallocations still in progress, there are likely to be more than the usual number of unusual workings.
For example, on Friday afternoon (March 9th) in Coventry I noted 36748 (on 55) and 36752 (on 48), two of a batch I've rarely seen in Coventry (especially branded examples). Leamington had an ex Nuneaton E200 on the X68 (what's unusual on this? - a Versa? ;D) and 34772 on the X17.
36752:

No photo of 34772; none of those I took had the destination display showing; a trait all too common with Stagecoach Darts. :(
Not sure whether this is noteworthy...But theres a UniBus branded E40D on the X17 today.

It probably is - I don't think Enviro 400s are scheduled to appear on the X17, although there are always a few of them spare on Saturdays.
That said, Leamington depot has tended to be very fluid with vehicle allocations. There does seem to be an effort to put Solos on the G1, branded Enviro 200s on the X17 and Scanias on the X18, but otherwise it sometimes seems as though almost anything can happen.
Wednesday 28th March:
47075 - 48 (Yes, all day... even did a late board and stayed out till midnight)
36746 (5/5A Branded) - 2 (Along with 36753 on the 1 and 39694 the other bus on the 2!!)
47510 - 56
47077 - 5/5A
39691 on the 86 and still branded as Matrix on the inside.
26222 - 56
47075 - 48
(Monday 23rd April)
26218 - 56
Shocking...!
26210/26207 - 55/56/57.
26210 did the last 56 and 26207 did the last 5 to Camp Hill.
Couldn't make it up!
Monday 4th June - 5/5A branded 36748 on the 10. Very rare since there is 3 5/5A brandeds and 5 buses on that route and also rare as there was 2 10 branded on the 5/5A!. Not very often a 5/5A branded strays off route either.
26224 - 5/5A
10 branded 36750 was also on 5/5A, 10 branded 36757 was on 9s, 10 branded 36753 was on 17s and 36756 was on 18s.
Unbranded 39694/39697/36749 were all on 10s! Very strange.
Friday 8th June - 5/5A branded 36747 on the 48, Gold 26224 on 5/5A...

At what point does it stop being an unusual working and become general poor allocation of branded vehicles? 5/5A and Gold branded buses off route seems to be a daily occurrence now.

5/5A branded vehicles very rarely stray off route because there is only 3 of them and there is 4 boards for Them, the Golds are "STRICTLY ONLY FOR 48S" but seem to do absolutely everything.
26223 - 41 Atherstone/9 Stockingford (no jokes....)
Today, 36752 - Route 48
Lots of fun in Nuneaton and Stratford this morning:
Nuneaton 48 branded bus on the following Nuneaton routes: 767, 56, 55, 10, 1, and 48
Nuneaton 5/5A branded bus on the 55
Warwick University branded bus on the X18.
I'm guessing that, in the same way that Platinums appear everywhere in the West Midlands on Sundays, they're using the most efficient buses that they have on the reduced services?
Stagecoach 37171 at Yardley / Swan driving up and down Coventry Road. Must be on test at Grayson. Very strange seeing a Stagecoach Enviro 200 in Yardley lol

I passed a Stagecoach E200 while on 6891 on the X2 at about 08:15 on Monday morning at the Wheatsheaf.
Think I passed another one on the Coventry Road by Sunnymead Road stop the week before as well.
So they might have sent a few there recently.
18323 on 665
15677 has done the full 77 route today from Leamington Spa to Stratford-upon-Avon and back. First time I think a decker has done the full route since Johnsons ran the route (not counting the Kineton and Gaydon short journeys).
26223 on 88 to Balsall Common, don't usually see MMCs on the route
