Whatever it was, it was running with no rear registration plate today.
.
I was thoroughly confused by it re-appearing after 25 minutes as his website timetable shows a near one-hour round trip.
Both  the tourist office, now in Lichfield St. and the heritage shop had old 9 timetables and non for the 12, which also seems to have disappeared off his website.

There reason why a spare couldn't run: "Unfortunately one is away for repairs after being hit by an Arriva bus in Victoria Road, and the other was at the maintenance contractor for scheduled maintenance. Things always go in threes"
