The one shown on the photo site (ie 73106 ) was the one that failed at fenny compton but I couldn't remember the exact location- I knew there had been other examples in the bham area but not on passengers. were they all on timetable svcs or 'specials' ??
Mind the Gap.....?:-)

Off topic a little but has anyone got the pic of a class 73 working a cross country service out of new street due to the absence of a HST or 47 &mk3s ??

Which one?  ;)

At least 6 have made it to New Street to my knowledge:

21/08/82: 73108+73134
28/01/97: 73132+73139 (With me onboard from Leamington!)
A Further pair made it to New St one sunday in either 1997 ot '98 with me onboard, unfortunately this pair had 'boiled over' at Fenny Compton & were dead in tow behind a 47.

That last pair that blew at Fenny Compton were 73105+73117 on 19/07/98

The 3 pairs that I mentioned were all on normal service trains, the 1982 pair were the only ones to work south in service.

73131+73128 visited New Street on a Railtour on 13/06/98, ran round, then went to Redditch!:

A few more have also reached Saltley to work 'Liners back south (80's) & route learners (90s).

Not forgetting 73128 made it to the Chasewater Railway for a time as well!

Somewhere I have a video of another 73 double headed with a 33 going through Lea Hall on a charter in the 1980s

I was on a late turn yesterday and was surprised to find 172222 in New Street when I went to catch the 22:17 train home. I didn't think any were due to appear there on week days
