3727, 3729 and 3742 are still seeing use at Oswestry as it stands.

I've heard they are waiting for the first tranche of refurbs to be released from MRC before any more movements take place.

All Scanias 3508-12 have seen service at Oswestry now, 3508 arriving a around a week ago with 3729 now departing. So far 3727 and 3742 are holding on here, probably helped with 3510 been dumped in the garage yard with a blown engine!

Indeed they did, Versa 2987 has been reallocated from Shrewsbury to replace one and entered service on the 70 today. P&R livery Versa 2969 has been on loan from Shrewsbury all week to cover 3510.

Hopefully it stays in Derby and 3795 comes back instead.

Oswestry garage are to have direct competition registered against their commercial service 2 Oswestry to Wrexham and 2C Cefn Mawr - Wrexham by EasyCoach registering a competing 2 and 2D service to start end of June.

Given the way Easybus self combusted a few months ago, I doubt these registrations will give Arriva too many the sleepless nights...

Some of the last Shrewsbury Services registered against Arriva never operated.

You would have also thought they would have seen and learned from the recent failed attempts in places like Tamworth to see how much of an impact predatory action had on Arriva...

Not sure Tamworth was a failed attempt - Arriva deregistered off the 35/35A and 115. Yourbus also appear to be going strong in Derby.

It will be interesting to see how Easybus perform, especially with 12 year old Optare Tempos...

Nobody even bothers to compete with them in Cannock anymore, the network is in terminal decline. In the 80s you had WMT, Chase, Green Bus, Stevensons, Midland Red North ( Arriva) and others! Its dying a death now

It's a sign of the times. As you say, the network is in terminal decline. The damage done over the years to the network is probably irreparable.

That said, I'm not sure running 5 minutes in front of another bus is the answer, or ever has been.

Regarding Tamworth, yes Arriva retreated from the more marginal services where their profits were obviously lower; But protected the Town network when they received competition on the 3, 4, 5 and 8/9 from various operators.
