If no one provides a replacement for the Halesowen - Catshill section then Romsley will be left without a bus route.

Could the 147 have worked better had it gone to merry hill do we think? Might have made it a bit more attractive and encouraged people to venture a bit further?
This bromsgrove to Halesowen section keeps being messed with though which never looks good. Who would want to take it on now? How things change. Used to be a pretty popular route in times gone by from what I read. Rhe 007 used to be Merry Hill to Redditch! That is going back some time though!

Maybe from Bromsgrove / Droitwich to Merry Hill might have been attractive / offered new links, Halesowen to Worcester is already 1 hr 30 mins add on Merry Hill as well and it would be nearer 2hrs each way for the full end to end journey. Couldn't see many takers for that.
Any replacement might depend of whether WCC have any spare funds to subsidize a replacement service, even only the Halesowen - Romsley section
I thought First had finally got the Halesowen route sorted, making it hourly. Unless Hansons do something interworking with the 318 I really don't see what anyone else could do without it returning to a run down weird frequency route

I understand that First's 147 was popular with the local's initially for a day out when first introduced, but the novelty's worn off since. Hanson's might be a good call.

Ok thanks, so we should get a replacement. I think the overall use of buses between that serve between Halesowen and Worcester has decreased look at the 202 used to be royals pretty full, now not even filling solos

Timetables now on First website. I don't blame locals for protesting against the cuts in the Malvern area. Services between Malvern and Upton have been cut from hourly to 3 per day.

I've signed this, I'll try and get others to sign too. Probably won't affect First's decision though, this will probably require input from Worcestershire County Council... or Centro?
Centro probably won't be interested, they don't seem to fund much if anything leaving the West Midlands boundary, yet other councils manage to fund services leaving their boundaries :-\
It appears that Worcestershire County Council has stepped in to support the service through Romsley for the next 6 months. There is nothing to indicate what form the 147 replacement will take or who will operate it.

I have heard that we (First) are continuing the 147 and for 6 months with wc funding of some sort. Let's see just how many of those who complained about the cuts actually use the service now.

Well a First Worcester driver told me the other day that First are definitely stopping the 147 from the 10th April and another operater is running the temporary service.

I'm surprised it is only going as far as catshill. Would have thought running it to Bromsgrove and cutting the Hasbury diversion would have been more useful

It will still be going to Bromsgrove, as it does now, the funded part is only Catshill to Halesowen, the rest of the route is commercial as it is the equivalent of the 144a so that is why the council website only concerns that part of the route.

I must admit, it is a real shame that we've now lost the link to Worcester from Halesowen. It also seems rather silly to only go as far as Catshill, makes more sense to extend to Catshill. I would imagine its probably a funding issue.
Its a shame that Worcestershire CC couldn't have subsidised the existing First 147 service between Halesowen and Catshill, therefore allowing the commercial link to Worcester to continue - bearing in mind that this is more or less the same as the 144A until Catshill.
I have a feeling the 147 may end up being curtailed to only operate between Romsley and Halesowen, or something along those lines. :-\
