Latest news..

The 25 MMC's for Nuneaton will not be gold but normal, due to the way the rotas work.

WHAT?  I was really looking forward to Golds on 48!!!

Tbh, the new buses at Stagecoach come with leather seats, charger points and wifi anyway... Just in a different colour to gold! :)

340 vehicles is not a lot at all

With a current fleet strength of over 9000 vehicles that figure each year would mean vehicle lives of around 25 years

I seem to recall that last year's orders were over 450 in total, including over 250 double deckers. I'd be guessing they want to sweat out the assets a bit more this time.
Don't judge me until you've walked in my size ten shoes.

And not having to replace non-DDA deckers, with all the Olympians and non-DDA Tridents now gone, probably means less new vehicles needed this year.

So why not paint them gold?

Because of the rotas. There are 2 route 48 rotas (4 day prime and 5 day prime) but other rotas such as the High Hours rota contains a lot of 48, night rota is half 48s. 4/5 day mixed rotas also have 48s on... it just wont work at all

So you mean that 48 branded buses are used on non-48 routes?

In Northampton X46/7 branded buses are very regularly used on routes 16 and 51 and are just about the only buses used on 50.
At Kettering X4 branded buses are often used on route 50.

There's not much (if anything) that 48 buses aren't booked on at some point in the week, Ben is right about it not working. The engineering manager said a little while back that he doesn't like the idea of route branding (probably why Matrix got the chop)... There was talk at one point of branding going altogether at Nuneaton, it doesn't seem like that's the case anymore though

Look daily.. there are 7 buses required for the 10 yet there is 8 buses that are branded for the 10, so standard practise is to whack the spare 10 branded on the 5/5A or the 48, but I just dont understand why they couldnt keep it (36757) unbranded

The Gold Enviros originally going to Nuneaton have begun to enter service at Porth on the 120/130 and in the process will clear out most of the oldest Darts in South Wales at Aberdare,Merthyr,Caerphilly and Blackwood. Highest I've seen was 26184.
