one of diamond new buses decided to break down in Walsall causing chaos https://www.flickr.com/photos/stanjack/16169621730/

That's interesting, as I thought 30883 had been operating gout of Redditch depot

I thought it was at Long Acre, one of them was on the 50
30489 &30490 are at long acre

They're Enviro300s

Yes...

It could have been 30884 SJ04DVM as that hasn't entered service yet

30882, Tony has it as at Redditch though

That photo was taken 27th Dec before it moved to Redditch

Agreed, they do have a quite modern fleet now though, and i must say most of the drivers on the 4H are top class. I guess that's where nxwm fail. The drivers can't build a reputation with the customers, as they are put on so many different bus routes. I also think it helps that there is no cage round the cab as it makes the drivers more personal and friendly.

I think putting regular drivers on particular routes really helps improve customer service, as does the lack of assault screen plus the ability to give change.

Tividale does have a very modern fleet now with older darts fast disappearing from service and a fair number of recent b7rle's arriving.

It is a question of safety with the assault screens. I hope it never happens but if a Diamond driver was seriously assaulted they would have a case against the company for not protecting their employees in the workplace. I think it is not sensible to not have the screens, it isn't like the old days anymore with passengers knowing drivers etc, most just want to go from A to B without a problem, and for most a simple thank you at the end of the journey is enough. As for change, as a driver for a company who gives it out, it is a nightmare and I would give a lot for us to have some NXWM cast off coin shutes!!! Carrying money about is another safety issue. In both cases I think NXWM have it spot on.

The way WM operators give change is inefficient tbh though. In the North East, we have two main operators who give change-Arriva and Go North East both of which use change dispensing machines where money is already sorted into denominations, they just click and the right coins come out as opposed to rummaging about in a cash bag like some WM operators do...

This is interesting but I do know that Simon doesn't like exact fare (and neither do I if truth be known) as I have asked him about it before so there is no chance that a coin shute will be introduced on any Diamond Buses.

Having driven for both companies I had far less grief and hassle with an open cab as opposed to being boxed in. Diamond have had dvr's assaulted but so have NX with their fixed screens, sad fact is if they want to get at you they will regardless.

Got the brilliant 30437 on the 4H, not seen this in ages, ageing a bit, with the handbrake making the loud noise, I do quite like bench seats. I'm surprised that this hasn't been transferred to kidderminster

It was being driven extremely fast, high revving, reminded me of 30832
